ABBA was a Swedish glam-pop and disco group that became very popular thanks to Eurovision Contest, which they won in 1974 with their song “Waterloo”. Their name ABBA is an acronym formed from the first letters of each of the group members (Agnetha, Björn, Benny, Anni-Frid). One of their most famous song was the disco hit  “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)”, recorded and released in 1979.

 In 2005, Madonna released an electropop song called “Hung up” (the first single from her album “Confessions on a Dance Floor” and her biggest selling single to date!!!) in which she partially used a synthesizer theme from ABBA’s “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” as a tribute to that group, so important in disco music!! You can take for granted she had to pay to Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid, a lovely fee for that tribute!!!!!!

Kara’s flowers was firstly a garage/grunge  band from the Brentwood High School in L.A. Their first performance took place in Whisky a go-go the september 16th of 1995.  The band signed a contract with Reprise Records and they recorded their first CD in 1997, called The Fourth Planet. In 2001 they changed the name for Maroon, and a few months later they changed it again for Maroon 5.

Lynyrd Skynyrd it’s a Hard Rock group and it was formed in 70’s and  they do shoutern Rock.  The most famous songs of this group are Sweet Home Alabama and Free Bird and the two are very very good.

Hello everyone! As some of you have asked me about the song from the film we are watching, here you have it! It’s a cover dance version of a song by Gordon Lightfoot called “If you could read my mind” that reached nº5 on the billboard chart in January 1971. Years after, a group called Stars on 54 recorded the cover version for the sountrack of the film “Studio 54” (1998).

Here I post both versions for you to compare!! Which one do you preffer???? I must confess that against my “religion” , this time  I personally preffer the dance version of the song!!!
